Occupational Therapist - Acute Care (Travel) in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States.

Start date:

08/10/2026. Estimated duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,753–$1,882 per week. Guaranteed hours: 35 per week. Shift: 5x8 Days (08:00–16:30). Assignment in a skilled nursing facility setting with potential float between units as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assess residents with acute care needs and functional limitations to determine therapy goals and treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized OT interventions focusing on activities of daily living, mobility, balance, cognition, and upper-limb function.
  • Reassess progress regularly, adjust treatment plans, and document outcomes in the chart in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (nursing, PT, physicians, case management) to optimize discharge planning and care transitions.
  • Educate residents and families on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and durable medical equipment needs when appropriate.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety, apply infection control practices, and align with facility policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements
  • Active Occupational Therapist license (state-specific licensure required; Maryland licensure preferred for this assignment)
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program
  • Experience in acute care or skilled nursing environments preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting and float between units as needed
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; commitment to patient-centered care
