Laboratory Technician
Adventist Health Care seeks to hire an experienced Laboratory Technician for our Capital Choice Pathology Lab who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Laboratory Technician you will:
- Slide distribution. Verify cases in LIS.
- Routine staining to include maintenance of H&E stainer and cover slipper.
- Ability to load and unload digital pathology imagers, assign cases within program, and perform minor cleaning maintenance.
- Special stains to include loading and unloading of instrumentation and perform hand staining as needed. Stains smears and ensures labeling is correct on all slides.
- Quality control for daily work.
- Assist histotechnologists by trimming and organizing blocks, racking slides, filing blocks and slides, printing process logs and organizing blocks and/or unstained slides, loading and unloading special and IHC stainers.
- Accession specimens, enter gross descriptions, and print cassettes.
- Prepare Non-GYN specimens (cell blocks and Thinpreps) and other cytology duties as assigned.
- Perform tissue processing to include organizing cassettes for selected protocols, loading and unloading racks, and perform maintenance as needed.
- Participates in department performance improvement and continuing education.
- Maintains competency and proficiency. Complies with safety and infection control policies.
- Utilizes time, supplies, and other resources wisely.
- Demonstrates organizational and cleanliness skills.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the LIS system and computer software.
- Always demonstrates a professional work ethic and promotes laboratory compliance.
- Seeks out and performs additional duties/tasks as needed in the laboratory.
Qualifications include:
- Associate Degree in science or related field. Bachelors Science degree (BS/BA) preferred
- Education level may include additional experience per CLIA and CAP requirements
- 1 years' in a laboratory setting experience required

Pay Range:
$20.51 - $27.21
