Position: Implementation Scientist SME IV
Location: Psychological Health Center of Excellence (PHCoE)
Work Environment: Hybrid / Telework Eligible (Routine and situational telework is authorized. Facility space restrictions may necessitate part-time or full-time telework.)
Clearance Required: TIER 2:
Non-critical sensitive position (Must be able to obtain and maintain)
Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $130,000 - $165,000
The SME IV – Implementation Scientist is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. This individual will lead efforts to translate clinical research findings into actionable solutions, conduct pilot studies to test the feasibility of these solutions, and collaborate with MHS leadership to implement successful practices system-wide.
TheJob Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Identify gaps and areas of underperformance in achieving optimal clinical mental health outcomes or delivery processes within the MHS.
- Assess potential evidence-based solutions to address performance gaps.
- Lead the development of rapid improvement/implementation science initiatives (pilot studies) to test the feasibility of solution adoption.
- Ensure study designs systematically vary implementation strategies to assess effectiveness.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify barriers and facilitators to solution uptake.
- Collaborate with DHA leaders to develop plans to implement successful trials across the MHS enterprise.
- Produce technical artifacts (e.g., reports, tools, briefings, presentations, and manuscripts) consistent with the PHCoE mission set.
- At least 13 years of full-time post-doctoral work experience directly related to adopting clinical research findings in healthcare delivery systems (research translation).
- At least 3 years of full-time post-doctoral work leading research translation activities in the mental healthcare space.
- Extensive knowledge of MHS and DHA clinical protocols and operations.
- Recognized certifications or specialized training in implementation science.
