Associate Specialist, Environmental Health

• Provide programmatic support for CDC-funded environmental health work involving chemical threat preparedness, overdose biosurveillance, human biomonitoring, chemical wastewater surveillance, and microplastics
• Provide administrative support, coordination, and project management to the Senior Program Manager of Environmental Health
• Implement environmental health program activities, including National Biomonitoring Network activities
• Support APHL work plans for strengthening environmental health laboratory programs
• Organize and coordinate member activities, travel, and trainings
• Maintain communications with APHL members, CDC, and other partners by email, telephone, and in-person meetings
• Monitor vendor contracts and review and submit vendor invoices
• Track financial activities and write corresponding project reports
• Create and disseminate invitation letters, certificates, agendas, and awards
• Communicate program activities and cooperative agreement reporting requirements with CDC project officers
• Take detailed meeting notes and summarize action items
• Procure supplies and help prepare and distribute meeting collateral materials
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Employee must reside within the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia area
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent preparation, in an area of specialization, or significant relevant experience as a Senior Technician or equivalent
• Minimal work experience may be required for college-educated candidates
• Knowledge of accounting, environmental public health, and project management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
• Ability to adapt to new computer programs and digital tools
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups
• Ability to work independently and multitask
• Ability to organize work projects and complete tasks within assigned time frames
• Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer keyboard, read information visually, and communicate orally through a computer monitor

Demonstrates expertise in project management and environmental public health, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication skills. Capable of coordinating program activities and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
