To

qualify for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist GS-0642:

(1) successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the credentialing standards described in 42 CFR Part 75 that is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education,

(2) be certified as a radiographer in Nuclear Medicine.

The following meets the above standards:

Persons employed by the Federal Government as a radiologic personnel prior to January 13,1986 who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.

Persons first employed by the Federal Government as a radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State of foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation,

OR
(b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.

Additional Qualifications requirements:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:

1.) performing advanced Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging procedures, including preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and operating Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT imaging systems in accordance with established protocols and safety requirements;
2.) providing technical guidance and assistance to Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT staff regarding imaging procedures, protocols, equipment operation, radiopharmaceutical handling, and/or quality control activities;
3.) coordinating and monitoring daily imaging activities and workflow to support patient scheduling, workload priorities, equipment utilization, and timely completion of Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT procedures;
4.) identifying and resolving technical or operational issues involving Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT imaging equipment, image acquisition/processing, PACS or other image archiving systems, and/or ancillary equipment;
5.) training and providing instructions to staff or other personnel on Nuclear Medicine/PET/CT procedures, equipment, protocols, safety practices, or related technical functions.
