Position: Job Development Specialist

The Job Development Specialist is responsible for developing employment opportunities and career pathways for program participants through employer engagement, business development, workforce partnerships, placement services, and retention support. This position serves as the primary liaison between participants and employers, ensuring successful employment outcomes that align with participant strengths, interests, and career goals.

The Job Development Specialist actively cultivates employer relationships, identifies workforce opportunities, and promotes disability-inclusive hiring practices. Through strategic outreach and ongoing support, this position assists participants in obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment while helping employers meet workforce needs.

Essential Responsibilities Employer Engagement & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers across technology and related industries.
  • Conduct employer outreach through networking events, workforce meetings, business associations, and direct engagement.
  • Identify and develop competitive integrated employment opportunities for participants.
  • Educate employers regarding disability inclusion, accessibility, and accommodation best practices.
  • Promote Humanim and abil
    IT services to prospective employer partners.
Job Placement & Employment Services
  • Work with participants during assigned class sessions to enhance Professional Development Training instruction and build relationships with participants.
  • Match participant skills, interests, and credentials with employment opportunities.
  • Assist participants with job searches, applications, resumes, and interview preparation.
  • Coordinate interviews, employer meetings, hiring events, and job fairs.
  • Facilitate participant introductions to employers and hiring managers.
  • Advocate for participant employment opportunities and workplace success.
  • Assist participants in navigating employment transitions and onboarding activities.
  • Provide ongoing retention support following employment placement.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with participants and employers.
  • Monitor participant advancement and career growth opportunities.
Workforce Partnerships & Community Engagement
  • Develop relationships with workforce development agencies, educational institutions, vocational rehabilitation partners, and community organizations.
  • Participate in workforce development initiatives and collaborative partnerships.
  • Represent Humanim and abil
    IT at community events and employer engagement activities.
Recruitment, Outreach, and Enrollment
  • Support participant recruitment efforts to ensure enrollment goals are achieved.
  • Conduct participant screenings and initial assessments to determine program interest, readiness, and eligibility.
  • Coordinate and facilitate participant interviews, ensuring candidates understand program expectations, training requirements, and employment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and Technology Instructor to evaluate participant suitability and readiness for technology training and employment pathways.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate employer contact records and participant employment documentation.
  • Track placement, retention, wage, and advancement outcomes.
  • Enter required information into designated systems.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Technology Instructor, Professional Development Instructor, and other Job Development Specialists to support participant success.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant, employer, and organizational information.
  • Adhere to Humanim policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in organizational committees, meetings, and special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. While performing the duties of this position the employee will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. This position requires standing, moving, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and the ability to drive agency vehicles.

Frequently may be required to move/lift to 20 pounds. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Workforce Development, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in job development, business development, recruiting, staffing, workforce development, employment services, sales, or employer relations.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
