Cloud Security Architect

Job Overview

We are looking for a Cloud Security Architect to lead security initiatives for our public cloud environments, working in a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite) out of our DC or Silver Spring office.

• Serve as a Cloud Security Subject Matter Expert for WBD’s Information Security organization.
• Proactively identify cloud security risks across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments and design mitigation strategies.
• Lead or influence implementation efforts in partnership with engineering teams.
• Design and produce clear, actionable architecture and security design artifacts.
• Partner with product and platform engineering to design, review, and validate secure network, compute, container, and serverless architectures.
• Provide hands‑on IAM guidance and policy design.
• Review cloud architecture and AI/ML workloads to advise on secure design patterns and data protection.
• Engage with cloud providers to evaluate security features.
• Evaluate cloud security vendors and conduct proof‑of‑value assessments.
• Mentor junior team members through technical guidance.
• Develop and maintain security documentation.
• Collaborate with leadership on security requirements.
• Stay current with emerging threats and tooling.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or related field, or equivalent experience with 6‑8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands‑on understanding of public cloud infrastructure and security risk mitigation.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and securing AWS environments; hands‑on experience with Azure and familiarity with GCP.
• Experience automating security processes in CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Go, or Node.js).
• Knowledge of IP networking concepts (routing, VPN, DNS, segmentation).
• Hands‑on experience in cloud security administration, serverless applications, IaC tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, or Ansible), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), network architecture, cloud‑native security services, source control and pipeline security.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.

• Current cloud provider certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Fundamentals, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer).
• Industry‑recognized security certifications (CISSP, CompTIA Security+).
• Hands‑on experience with CSPM/CNAPP platforms, SIEM, observability tools such as Splunk, and cloud risk or asset management platforms.
• Experience integrating security tooling with collaboration platforms (Slack, Jira) and CI/CD pipelines.

Pay Range: $ – $ per year. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
