The Director, Epic Clinical Applications, is a key leader within the Information Systems (IS) Division at Children's National Hospital, reporting to the Executive Director of Enterprise Applications. This role provides strategic oversight and leadership for the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic's clinical applications, including workflows spanning Inpatient, Ambulatory (Primary and Specialty Care), and Emergency Medicine services. This individual is responsible for ensuring that clinical technologies are aligned with care delivery priorities, support provider efficiency, and contribute to improved patient outcomes and safety.
The Director partners closely with operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders to translate organizational goals into actionable technology strategies that advance evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and integrated care.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Epic Applications team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
- Build a high‑performing leadership pipeline, mentoring managers and senior staff to enhance expertise, drive engagement, and prepare for future leadership roles.
- Provide executive oversight for incident resolution, major system updates, and change control processes, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum operational stability.
- Develop and oversee the multi‑year Epic application roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise initiatives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Serve as the enterprise owner of Epic applications, setting the strategic vision for optimization, innovation, and alignment with the hospital’s clinical, operational, and financial goals.
- Align Epic capabilities with clinical and operational priorities, ensuring technology solutions are effectively supporting patient care delivery, revenue cycle optimization, and workforce efficiency.
