Peraton Labs is seeking a talented Software Research Engineer to join our high performing team. This position is onsite (at least three days a week) and may include occasional travel to customer sites. What You'll Do:
* Work in a dynamic environment, requiring professional and effective interactions and communications

* Be a developer on the front line of the research, development, design, and deployment of an existing application

* Responsible for designing, testing, coding, and developing solutions to meet customer needs; ensuring software continues to function normally through software maintenance, upgrade, and testing; documenting the application, service, and environment as a reference for future operations and maintenance, including version and platform upgrades

* Participate in design reviews, peer code reviews, and documentation for regular software releases

* Connect with other project developers to ensure efficient data flow between supporting/supported data sources, utilizing API development

* Collaborate to prototype and operationalize mission tools
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA;
Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA;
Minimum of 0 years with Ph.D.

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific/engineering discipline.

* Ability and desire to quickly acquire knowledge of new subject matter areas

* Expertise in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or similar languages

* Working knowledge of Linux, MacOS, Windows, and mobile operating systems, platforms and internals

* Working knowledge of modern computer networking technologies

* Experience with Dev Ops and Agile development methodologies and toolsets (Git, subversion, CI/CD)

* Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

* US Citizenship Desired Relevant Skills (not required, but any are a plus):
* Experience in one or more of the following areas:

* Data Science and Data-driven Analytics

* Threat analysis and research

* Computer networking protocol design and/or analysis

* Compute and network emulation, containerization, and virtualization

* Security controls and authorization

* Experience with one or more of the following classes of tools and frameworks:

* Vector Packet Processor (VPP) platform

* Data Plan Development Kit (DPDK)
