The OpportunityRCG is seeking a Part-Time IT Business Analyst / System Tester to support the Office of Sustainable Fisheries (OSF). This position will support business requirements analysis, business process improvement, system documentation, application testing, and user acceptance testing. The selected candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to evaluate existing processes, identify business and technical requirements, recommend improvements, and help introduce effective systems and solutions.
The role combines traditional business analysis with hands-on system testing, including requirements gathering, process mapping, wireframes, user stories, functional documentation, test planning, defect tracking, and UAT coordination. Approximately 90% of the work is expected to be performed remotely, with approximately 10% requiring on-site participation for meetings, training, troubleshooting, project tasks, or development team activities.
What You'll DoBusiness Analysis & Requirements
- Evaluate current business systems and operational processes and recommend improvements.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate stakeholder needs into clearly defined system requirements.
- Gather business requirements through stakeholder interviews, working sessions, and review of existing project documentation.
- Map data flows and develop detailed system specifications.
- Develop wireframes and user stories that support intuitive and efficient solutions.
- Create workflow charts, data flow diagrams, and data management plans.
- Formally document requirements and develop requirements traceability matrices, use cases, functional design documentation, and process workflows.
- Track and prioritize new requirements, system enhancements, and defect resolution.
- Conduct market research and gather pricing information as required.
- Identify opportunities to streamline business processes and improve system functionality.
System Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop and document comprehensive application test plans.
- Create detailed test cases and test scripts based on documented business and functional requirements.
- Perform system testing by executing test cases and test scripts.
- Identify, document, and track system defects using appropriate defect-tracking tools.
- Verify that system functionality meets established business requirements.
- Manage and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities with project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Support defect resolution and retesting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide user training and guidance as needed during UAT and system implementation.
Systems, Documentation & Project Support
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive documentation for new and existing projects.
- Create and maintain user reference materials and training documentation.
- Write and update system procedures and protocols.
