Position Overview

Holy Cross Health, a Catholic not‑for‑profit health system serving more than 240,000 people annually in Maryland, is seeking a dedicated Mechanic to support the maintenance of hospital equipment and facilities. This full‑time day shift role is based in Silver Spring, MD and reports to the Plant Operations Manager.

• Annual pay range: $21.74 - $30.44 per hour (based on experience, skill and education)

• Maintain hospital machinery and equipment, ensuring operational readiness.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems on plant operations equipment.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide prompt repairs as needed.
• Read, understand, and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Participate in rotating shifts, including weekends, as required.

• High school graduate or equivalent; courses in shop, mathematics, mechanics, and general science.
• Technical school experience in mechanical maintenance, construction, electrical/electronics, welding or equivalent training and experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills – ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Comfortable with systems computers and can manipulate system data.
• Must be able to work weekend and shift rotations if required.
