FY26 Building Service Worker (Shift
2)
Location:
Forest Knolls Elementary School, Silver Spring. Full‑time, 8 hours per day, 12 months. Shift: Evening (5:00 pm‑9:00 pm). Salary: $20.00‑$24.84 per hour. Final date to receive applications: 1 Dec 2025.
- Perform building cleaning and facilities/grounds maintenance under general supervision.
- Clean interiors and maintain grounds using custodial and grounds tools and equipment.
- Move/lift furniture and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; handle repetitive, heavy tasks.
- Serve as emergency personnel and report to buildings during inclement weather; may be called to other locations.
- Monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe environment.
- Maintain proper protective uniform and wear appropriate attire.
- Completion of the ninth grade required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in general building and grounds cleaning.
- Some knowledge of building/grounds work methods, materials, and practices.
- Ability to learn the use of custodial/grounds care equipment and approved cleaning supplies.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions; communicate with customers.
- Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
- Physical strength sufficient to lift up to 50 lbs.; free from disabling defects.
