Position: Bilingual Spanish Branch Manager- Silver Spring MD

Overview

We are seeking a leader with proven branch banking management experience. Candidates must have a strong background in business development, community involvement, and be fluent in both English and Spanish. This role manages all activities of a branch, ensuring overall success of the branch operating model, including customer and employee experience, digital engagement, transactions/operations, servicing, and sales. The manager holds personal production responsibility.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall profitability by directing sales and business development, meeting operational objectives, and ensuring the branch achieves its annual goals.
  • Leads the team through coaching, performance management, and setting priorities.
  • Builds and develops branch staff; conducts interviews and selects employees based on the staffing model.
  • Identifies Retail and Business Banking customer needs through the M&T sales processes, using tools and resources to assist customers with short‑ and long‑term solutions.
  • Proactively prospects and grows Business Banking relationships through outreach, and builds the bank’s presence in the community.
  • Act as a role model, coaching customer service and needs‑determination behaviors; reinforces accountability for execution of the Retail strategy.
  • Ensures operational and regulatory requirements are maintained, including consumer and business banking guidelines, operational, security, and control policies to prevent fraud and protect customer assets.
  • Takes ownership of complex account servicing and error‑resolution issues, including escalations from other bankers, and provides coaching to reduce future problems.
  • Engages with all team members and business partners as appropriate.
  • Independently processes all Business Banking loan requests up to $250,000 and bundles products and services as appropriate.
  • Adheres to applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promotes an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintains M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by external regulators.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned.
  • Exercises usual authority regarding staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Reports to a Retail Regional Manager and leads the branch team to achieve annual sales and profitability goals.
  • Ensures compliance with SAFE Act federal registration requirements and stays current on operational, product, and system changes.
  • Manages insurance licensing requirements as outlined in the MTS Licensed Banker Academy document.
  • Builds productive partnerships with other bank areas to resolve customer, service, and employee issues promptly.
  • Owns customer issue resolution until complete resolution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience: four years relevant experience).
  • Minimum three years sales experience.
  • Minimum two years managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet/email.
  • Strong knowledge of business banking products, services, and client relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills for exceptional customer service.
  • Strong organization, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
  • Flawless bilingual ability in Spanish and English.
  • Certification: M&T Way Certified Precision Leadership and Bilingual/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency through assessment; licensing within 18 months of entry for insurance products and business banking specialist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated sales/business development success and fundamental understanding of profitability.
  • Strong financial services product knowledge.
  • Experience with mobile and online banking technologies.
Compensation & Location

Salary range: $72,200.00 – $ per annum (USD).
