Overview
We are currently offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for Rental Shop Technician new hires, payable after 90-days of employment.
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Rental Shop Technician in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The Rental Shop Technician is responsible for applying troubleshooting techniques to determine repair procedures, diagnosing basic repairs, and performing light mechanical repairs; inspecting returned equipment and attachments for repairs or maintenance; cleaning returned equipment; and assembling/repairing work tools in a shop environment.
Seeking candidates with a minimum of one year experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair; high school diploma or GED required.
- Apply troubleshooting techniques to determine repair procedures and diagnose basic repairs; perform light mechanical repairs.
- Inspect returned equipment and attachments for repairs or maintenance; clean returned equipment; assemble/repair work tools in a shop environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; promote a positive customer experience.
- Follow safety rules and policies; complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
- Minimum one year experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; self-directed and organized.
- Team player with ability to interact positively with coworkers.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
- Ability to use tools and equipment correctly and safely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare required documentation, including work orders, parts lists, and time cards; complete service reports with pertinent details for work orders.
- Ability to follow company safety rules and policies.
- Willingness to work shifts as needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and service software required for the position.
- Occasionally operate heavy machinery in a safe manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Starting Compensation Range: $29.26 - $41.09 per hour
Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other business needs. In addition to base pay, total compensation may include participation in performance-based incentive programs, such as discretionary or non-discretionary plans.
