Position Summary
The Senior Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader and teacher of the church, providing vision, biblical instruction, pastoral care, and leadership to the congregation. In a board‑governed church structure, the Senior Pastor works collaboratively with the Board of Elders/Directors, which provides governance, financial oversight, and accountability. The Senior Pastor focuses primarily on spiritual leadership, preaching, ministry development, and equipping the church to fulfill its mission.
The church operates within a charismatic/Spirit‑empowered framework and expects the Senior Pastor to lead with a strong commitment to the authority of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the mission of making disciples.
- Preaching and Teaching – Prepare and deliver biblically grounded, Spirit‑led sermons that inspire spiritual growth and practical application. Provide theological leadership consistent with the church’s statement of faith and charismatic convictions. Equip the congregation through teaching series, classes, and leadership development.
- Vision and Spiritual Leadership – Discern and communicate the church’s spiritual direction in collaboration with the Board. Lead the congregation in prayer, worship, evangelism, and discipleship. Encourage a culture that welcomes the gifts and work of the Holy Spirit in an orderly and biblical manner.
- Pastoral Care and Shepherding – Provide pastoral leadership to the congregation through counseling, prayer, visitation, and spiritual guidance. Oversee pastoral care systems so members receive support during life events and crises.
- Officiate Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, And Other Pastoral Functions
- Leadership Development – Identify, mentor, and develop ministry leaders and volunteers. Equip emerging leaders within the church through discipleship and leadership training. Encourage every member to use their gifts for ministry.
- Ministry Oversight – Provide spiritual leadership to ministry departments including worship, outreach, small groups, children, youth, and missions. Work with ministry leaders to ensure alignment with the church’s mission and values.
- Collaboration with the Board – Work closely with the Board of Elders/Directors who hold governance authority. Provide spiritual insight, ministry reports, and recommendations to assist board decision‑making. Support the board in maintaining healthy governance, accountability, and stewardship.
- Community Engagement and Outreach – Represent the church within the community and build relationships with local leaders and organizations. Encourage outreach initiatives and evangelism that extend the church’s impact locally and globally.
- Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
- Agreement with the church’s doctrinal statement and charismatic theological convictions.
- Demonstrated experience in preaching, pastoral leadership, and church ministry.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a board‑governed leadership structure.
- Strong communication, relational, and leadership skills.
- Spirit‑filled and led by the Holy Spirit.
- Humble, servant‑hearted leader who values accountability.

The Senior Pastor is accountable to the Board of Elders/Directors. Performance will be evaluated periodically based on spiritual leadership, preaching effectiveness, ministry development, and alignment with the church’s mission and values.
