Events and Ministry Coordinator (Onsite, Volunteer)

This role is not paid. The position is compensated by living onsite at the community with discounted rent. A team of 2 is required.

The Events and Ministry Coordinator will execute the service plan of Apartment Life, preparing a monthly schedule of resident events, workshops, classes, and other programming to meet community needs. Internally known as Coordinator of Resident Services.

• Part‑time, 12 hours per week.
• Serves one community in Silver Spring, MD near Shepherd Park.
• Full‑time onsite residency with discounted rent; no additional pay.
• Flexible work hours: business hours, evenings and weekends.
• Plans and hosts several events each month promoting social engagement, wellness, health, enrichment, and stability.
• Creates a monthly schedule of community activities and workshops.

• Collaborate with corporate, government, and nonprofit partners to create programs tailored to the community.
• Organize and host educational workshops for adults and youth.
• Meet with residents to provide support and connect them with resources.
• Share information about rental, food, and other assistance programs.
• Ensure all activities run smoothly.
• Communicate regularly with onsite staff.
• Meet weekly with supervisor to review program and goals.
• Submit monthly reports on activities and impact.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree or related experience in event planning, social impact, or human services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to provide after‑hours or weekend activities as needed.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic fluency in English for marketing materials and reports.
• Current driver’s license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to use stairs, bend, sit, stand, stoop, and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Availability for weekly hours, mainly evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to the minimum term required for the apartment community.

• Bilingual Spanish (preferred).
• Experience serving at‑risk populations.
• Experience working within a budget.
• Network of volunteers, vendors, or community partners.
