Description
The Emergency Department Patient and Family Clinical Liaison (PFCL) serves as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team. The PFCL enhances communication by interpreting and explaining hospital processes, providing frequent status updates regarding the patient’s treatment plan, and resolving patient concerns.

Holy Cross Health has two hospitals and four healthcare centers all a short driving distance from Washington DC and Baltimore, MD
- Assist ER staff by gathering patient information or history that may not have been documented during Intake/Triage.
- Escort patients from the waiting room to their assigned ER rooms and prepare them for the nurse or doctor.
- Explain to patients that a nurse will arrive shortly and demonstrate how to call the nurse on their remote if needed.
- Support ER nurses by taking vitals, charting, providing EKGs, preparing beds for patients, notifying social workers, and updating family members about patients awaiting care.
- Ensure safe transportation for discharged patients, calling loved ones, coordinating rides, and escorting patients to the waiting area for pickup.
- Associate degree or equivalent (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Maryland State Board of Nursing (preferred)
- 1‑3 years of work experience in a hospital setting
- Bilingual, English/Spanish
- $17.89 – $25.04 per hour
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
