Job Summary
Lead Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner at White Oak Medical Center.
Responsibilities- Assesses for, and helps implement employee training and education related to Occupational Health issues, working as a partner and resource to local HR leaders and management with medical disability and return-to-work program issues, and is knowledgeable about FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Comp regulations.
- Performs physical exam/health assessments, diagnoses, and implements therapeutic regimens for workplace injury and illness, working with the OH RN WC Case Manager to ensure injured worker prompt return to work in modified or full duty.
- Performs post‑offer medical history/health assessments as needed, in accordance with standard of care practices and hospital policies.
- Develops/revises policies and procedures to support employee health functions and meet regulatory compliance.
- Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve local Occupational Health and system goals, works with management to enhance HCW safety, hazard elimination, injury investigation, root cause identification and decrease frequency, and leads and manages Occupational Health staff when appropriate.
- Supports and ensures execution of all Occupational Health program initiatives.
- Monitors, trends, and analyzes injury data and reports quarterly to entity Directors and VPs, as well as Safety and IPAC committees.
- Oversees local annual TB testing, mandatory flu and other HCW immunizations and medical surveillance programs, as per CDC guidelines.
- Monitors supply utilization and entity WC cost, implementing strategy to reduce cost and enhance employee safety per Hazard Elimination Annual Plan.
- Works with RN WC Case Manager to ensure accuracy of worker’s compensation program and claim management, ensures proper maintenance of OSHA logs, and ensures OSHA log 300A Summary is signed by CEO and published at year end as required.
- Is a member of the local emergency response team, managing HCW screening during emergency events per policy and guidance from Incident Command Center and Health Department.
- Provides occupational health services for physicians and other contractual services as needed.
- Ensures practice adheres to Nurse Practitioner‑Physician collaborative agreement and Occupational Health policies.
- Consistently provides excellent and compassionate care and treats everyone with kindness and respect, consistent with organizational values.
- BSN or MSN. Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland required.
- ANCC or AANP Certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland. 2‑5 year NP experience.
- CPR Certified by American Heart Association.
- Must be approved/credentialed as staff affiliate by the Medical/Dental staff.
- Certification in occupational health, case management or experience in occupational health nursing or related field preferred; office management preferred.
- Ability to diplomatically work with employees and medical staff regarding occupational health or WC related issues.
- Good PC skills such as Internet, email, and Windows environment; experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, and Workday preferred.
