Position: Term Part Time Community Health Nurse I/II, Grade 21/24

This part-time position may be filled at one of the following levels. Salary range is based 20 hours a week.

Community Health Nurse I, Grade 21:
The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring salary for this position will be $36,283.50- $43,886.03. The hourly rate range is $34.88 - $42.19

Community Health Nurse II, Grade 24:
The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $41,176 - $52,795.50, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The hourly rate range is $39.59 - $50.76.

This is a term position budgeted through July 1, 2027. Continued employment beyond this date is subject to continuation of funding and is not guaranteed.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Disease Control & Immunization Program is looking for an individual who has a passion for public health and is committed to serving the residents of Montgomery County, not limited to residents of other jurisdictions in Maryland. This individual must have a strong sense of nursing caring elements, including good leadership, communication, and integrity skills. The candidate must be highly motivated to promote immunization efforts, focusing on preventive health, outreach and education.

This Community Health Nurse will perform nursing duties and tasks of the Immunization Program:

  • Reviewing and assessing immunization records, communicate with parents/guardians, vaccine education, administer all vaccines during the Vaccine for Children (VFC) clinic days, vaccine for adults, and other vaccination clinics; immunization outreach and education, and coordinating vaccination clinics.
  • The nurse should be able to assist with WIC (immunization records review) and the annual Private School Survey.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-placement medical exam and drug screening.

Education:

Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners with a Bachelor's Degreein Nursing.

Experience:

Position maybe filled at the Community Health Nurse I or Community Health Nurse II level as follows:

  • Community Health Nurse I, Grade 21:
    No Experience
  • Community Health Nurse II, Grade 24:
    Two (2) years of full-time equivalent post-licensure experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the nursing area of Immunization.

License:
Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Maryland State, of Maryland issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners is required at the time of appointment. If the license is temporary, a regular Maryland RN license must be obtained within ninety (90) days of appointment.
