About the OpportunityNurse America is seeking an experienced and compassionate Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time opportunity in Silver Spring, Maryland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with oncology and/or radiation oncology experience to provide specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment in a fast-paced outpatient clinical setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team while providing exceptional clinical care, patient education, and treatment support.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and monitor their clinical status throughout treatment.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and symptom management.
- Administer medications and therapies as ordered by the physician.
- Perform venipuncture and access and maintain implanted ports and central lines.
- Review laboratory results and communicate relevant findings to providers.
- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
- Manage treatment-related symptoms and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Triage patient phone calls and respond to medication refill requests.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, consultations, and follow-up appointments.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians, Medical Assistants, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Follow all safety protocols related to oncology treatments, hazardous materials, and radiation oncology environments.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Active Maryland RN license.
- Current BLS certification required.
- 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of oncology experience preferred.
- Previous Radiation Oncology experience is highly preferred.
- Oncology certification such as OCN is a plus.
- Experience in outpatient oncology, cancer care, infusion, or radiation oncology is preferred.
- Strong patient assessment, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
- Competitive annual salary of $95,000–$115,000
