SUMMARY
This position is located in the Golf Division of Morale, Welfare & Recreation Dept. NAS Patuxent River. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the efficient operation of the grounds maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and surrounding areas on a regularly scheduled basis.
DUTIESResponsible for the upkeep and maintenance of an 18‑hole golf course and surrounding areas. Duties include mowing and rolling greens, mowing tees, resetting cups and flags, operating weed eaters and edgers where mowers cannot reach, operating push and hover mowers, seeders, spreaders and trim mowers, raking and edging sand traps and replacing sand as required. Ensure areas are polished, dispose of trash and garbage properly, perform minor maintenance on equipment (greasing mowers, checking engine oil and fluids), and other duties related to golf course grounds and equipment maintenance.
The majority of work is performed outdoors, possibly under adverse weather conditions, and may expose the employee to heat, cold, rain, dust, dirt, mud, and chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying.
- A valid State driver’s license is required to operate motor vehicles.

Knowledge of grounds upkeep, maintenance tasks and methods related to basic golf course maintenance is desired. Must have basic motor‑vehicle operator skills and a valid driver’s license; a copy of the driver’s license must be submitted with the resume. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONSalary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectees may be required to complete a one‑year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit / Electronic Funds Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.
