Montgomery Parks — Southern Parks Division is seeking two high-performing Principal Parks/Facilities Maintenance Workers-CDL to join the Wheaton Regional Park Ballfield and Trim teams. These are stable, full-time positions for experienced maintenance professionals who enjoy outdoor work, operating equipment, and being part of a reliable crew that maintains the park and ball fields, which includes preparation for ball games and special events throughout the year.
Working under the direction of a Parks Maintenance Leader, the positions perform a variety of park maintenance tasks, including operating equipment, maintaining grounds and athletic fields, repairing park facilities, and supporting daily operations. Each role also provides basic crew guidance and safety support. A Class-A CDL is required within 12 months of hire, and opportunities are available to develop additional park operation, maintenance, and equipment skills through on-the-job training.
The Southern Parks Division
The Southern Parks Division supports both local and regional recreation across some of the most densely populated areas of Montgomery County. With nearly 200 seasonal and career employees, four maintenance facilities, and five divisional programs, the division maintains over 200 parks and operates a large fleet of equipment to keep park facilities, athletic fields, trails, and playgrounds safe, functional, and ready for daily use.

Examples of Important Duties Core Areas Of Responsibility General Park, Facilities, and Ground Maintenance- Perform grounds, landscaping, turf, and athletic field maintenance to keep parks, playgrounds, and public spaces safe, attractive, and accessible.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair park facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and amenities, including minor carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Support daily park operations by promoting safe work practices, assisting crew members, responding to emergencies, maintaining tools and equipment, and performing custodial, trail, litter, and leaf and snow removal services as needed.
- Repair park facilities with the necessary tools and equipment to support safe, efficient day-to-day operations.
