Scientific Research Support Fellowship - Postdoctoral
The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Research Programs Office in Silver Spring, Maryland offers a research fellowship for recent postdoctoral applicants. The ORISE Fellow will participate in scientific research support, gain skills in proposal planning and reviews, programmatics, and research data integration and analysis.
Responsibilities- Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with identifying scientific research funding opportunities.
- Understand Funding Proposal Reviews and related processes, including review, organization, feedback to PIs, preparing presentations, and coordinating meetings among PIs, funding sponsors, stakeholders, and WRAIR offices.
- Engage in Programmatic and Science Support, including reviewing research project reports and organizing briefings to funding sponsors and leaders.

Anticipated Start DateThe Walter Reed Army Institute of Research is ready to make appointments immediately. Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection.
Appointment LengthTwelve-month, full-time appointment, with possibility of renewal. Appointments may be extended depending on funding, project assignment, program rules, and participant availability.
Benefits- Stipend determined by WRAIR, typically based on academic standing, discipline, experience, and location.

About ORISEThis program is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage ORISE. Participants are affiliated with ORISE for appointment administration. Proof of health insurance is required; you may obtain health insurance through ORISE.
QualificationsThe qualified candidate is a U.S. citizen who will have earned a Doctoral Degree in a STEM field within the past 60 months and has an interest in applying their STEM background to scientific research support.
