Job OverviewWe are seeking an Electrician (Journeyman) to work a full‑time schedule for 40 hours per week. The Electrical Journeyman participates in the repair, installation, modification and maintenance of electrical wiring, systems, circuits, fixtures and equipment within the Leisure World of Maryland community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES- Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical wiring, electrical/electronic systems, circuits, fixtures and equipment as applicable.
- Review blueprints, schematics, and drawings to assess material and equipment needs.
- Identify required tools and special equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Inspect electrical systems and their components to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance.
- Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit breakers, panels, etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Test continuity of circuits using testing instruments to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
- Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances such as washers and dryers.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established procedures.
- Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure material availability.
- Ensure customers’ property is kept neat, clean, and protected during and at completion of the job.
- Transport a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies to complete installations and repairs.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Adhere to all building codes, installation requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Ensure that all work is done to standard.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked truck.
- Document time spent on jobs; ensure work orders are filled out accurately, completely, and legibly and turned in at the end of the day.
- Prepare invoices for each job and collect payment before leaving the site unless indicated otherwise by office.
- Maintain a daily job log of services performed noting type and cost of work.
- Always communicate professionally with customers.
- Ensure work orders are filled out and turned in within 24 hours of job completion.
- Ensure customers are satisfied with the job upon completion.
- Be on‑call after regular business hours and weekends on a rotational basis and be available for emergency maintenance and repairs.
- Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures to include wearing appropriate shoes, gloves, protective clothing, and following MSDS sheets as necessary.
- Ensure hazardous material is disposed of properly.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPSIn addition to the community residents, the Electrician’s (Journeymen) principal working relationships are with employees of LWMC, particularly those who work within the Physical Properties Department.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION- Maryland Journeyman Electricians License.
