Travel Installation Technician
Must be able to obtain Real Passport for nationwide air travel.
Key Responsibilities:- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent training verified by the Installation Supplier's process.
- Perform complex system installations without supervision.
- Act as in-charge person for installation projects.
- Manage additions, removals, and modifications of working equipment and circuits including:
- Circuit modifications
- Software upgrades
- Power transitions
- Battery management
- Conduct equipment testing and turn‑up.
- Proficient with Microsoft programs and applications on PC and smart devices.
- Understanding of Ethernet and Serial connections including establishing communications with network elements.
- Must have a smartphone with photo capabilities and necessary work applications.
- Smartphone must support "Mobile Hotspot" for remote support desktop sharing.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Open to feedback and able to think critically to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to learn and execute scripts and commands for equipment tests.
- Competent in using company and customer‑specific data collection programs.
- Willingness to travel extensively, including up to three consecutive weeks with potential breaks.
- Pass criminal background and drug tests for customer access.
- Exhibit professionalism and excellent communication skills with customers under pressure.
- Availability to meet customer work schedules.
- Physically capable of climbing ladders and accessing tight spaces.
- Ownership of telecom insulated hand tools is required.
- Familiarity with telecom test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber scope, and Volt Ohm Meter.
- Knowledge of proper cabling installation techniques and industry standards.
- Understanding of fiber optics handling and cleaning techniques.
- Awareness of DWDM, OME long haul/short haul circuits, and transport protocols.
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation and installation instructions.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power installations, including safe termination practices.
- Familiarity with Telcordia GR1275 installation standards and customer equipment.
