Job Overview
Full‑time Electrician (Journeyman) – 40 hours per week. Pay $32.00–$34.00 per hour (based on experience). Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, and 401(k).
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Company:
Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical wiring, systems, circuits, fixtures, and equipment as required.
- Reviews blueprints, schematics, and drawings to assess material and equipment needs.
- Identifies required tools and special equipment for each job.
- Diagnoses and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments.
- Inspects electrical systems to evaluate condition, recommends necessary repairs, and plans preventive maintenance.
- Installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Installs and repairs control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit breakers, panels, etc.
- Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment according to diagrams.
- Tests continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety using testing instruments.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Repairs or recommends replacement of electrical appliances such as washers, dryers, etc.
- Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established procedures.
- Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for installations/repairs.
- Maintains the neatness, cleanliness, and protection of customers’ property during and after work.
- Transfers tools, equipment, and supplies to complete necessary installations/repairs.
- Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve safety concerns.
- Adheres to all building codes, installation requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Ensures work meets required standards.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked work truck.
- Documents time spent on jobs; completes work orders accurately, legibly, and submits them at day’s end.
- Prepares invoices for each job and collects payment unless otherwise directed.
- Maintains a daily job log of services performed, noting type and cost.
- Communicates professionally with customers.
- Ensures work orders are submitted within 24 hours of completion.
- Ensures customer satisfaction upon job completion.
- Is on‑call after regular hours and weekends on a rotational basis for emergency maintenance and repairs.
- Performs work according to established safety procedures, including wearing appropriate shoes, gloves, protective clothing, and following MSDS sheets as necessary.
- Disposes of hazardous material properly.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.

Principal Working RelationshipsPrimary relationships are with community residents and employees of LWMC, especially those in the Physical Properties Department.
License / Certification- Maryland Journeyman Electrician License.
- Current valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program under a licensed master electrician, with classroom instruction approved by the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council or the Federal Office of Apprenticeship.
- Minimum of 576 classroom hours and 8,000 hours of on‑job training and/or work experience.
4–5 years of documented apprenticeship training with successful completion evidenced by issuance of a Journeyman’s license.
Knowledge & Skills- Advanced knowledge of electrical principles.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other trades.
- Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with vendors, internal customers, and residents.
