Day Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday (with weekends as needed for special projects)

Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Maryland

The Carpenter constructs, repairs, and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, fixtures, and other parts of the hospital building.

• Construct and renovate walls, ceilings, and floors.
• Design and build casework and cabinetry.
• Respond to emergent calls promptly and courteously.
• Install walls and floors in all in‑house construction/renovation projects.
• Maintain, repair, or replace damaged walls/floors in all patient rooms and common areas.
• Maintain and repair all hospital ceiling tiles.
• Refinish hospital furniture.
• Maintain essential tools and equipment inventory.

• High school graduate or equivalent with courses in shop, mathematics, mechanics, and general science.
• Driver’s license required.
• Good knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction specifications.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to understand and manipulate computer systems.
• Capable of reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints.
• Weekend work and shift rotation may be required.

• Four years experience as a construction or maintenance carpenter.

$25.35–$39.32 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the FLSA will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
