Asphalt Roller Operator

Overview

Allan Myers is a leading self‑performing heavy civil construction and construction materials company in the Mid‑Atlantic. This position focuses on safe, efficient operation of asphalt paving and milling equipment.

• Discuss plans and objectives for the day with the field manager and determine the safest and most productive work methods.
• Operate asphalt pavers, asphalt rollers, material transfer vehicles, milling machines, backhoes, and skid steers in milling and paving operations.
• Perform physical duties associated with safe and productive equipment operation.
• Clean, grease, and maintain fluid levels on equipment as part of regular maintenance.
• Prioritize safety for all personnel working near equipment.
• Communicate clearly with crew members to achieve daily goals.

• $25.00 – $27.00, based on experience.

• GED or high school diploma preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of equipment operating experience.
• Related work experience is a necessity.
• Valid driver’s license required.

• Make judgments regarding the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments.
• Exhibit strong hand, foot, and eye coordination for safe equipment operation.
• Compliance with Allan Myers policies including but not limited to:
  • Equipment repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Operator safety standards.
  • Safety, Safety, Safety!
  • "Home Safe Tonight" and related policies.
  • "AIPS".

Requires extensive heavy physical activity, maneuvering in awkward positions, and the ability to stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance. Must be able to carry or handle up to 75 pounds. Requires detailed vision: close, color, and peripheral.

Work conditions vary by site and weather. The job includes rough grading, undeveloped job sites, and work adjacent to live traffic, posing safety risks that require constant vigilance.

Travel is required; overnight stays may be necessary. Night and weekend shifts are common during the milling and paving season.
