Job Description

This role combines electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation responsibilities to support reliable operation of a large manufacturing facility. The Electro-Mechanical Technician performs daily maintenance assignments, troubleshoots complex equipment issues, and carries out repairs on production machinery, control systems, and related infrastructure. The position emphasizes a strong safety mindset, proficiency with maintenance management systems, and the ability to work flexibly across electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support and actively participate in a strong safety culture that aims for zero injuries and illnesses, consistently following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily maintenance assignments of an instrument, mechanical, or electrical nature, ensuring timely and effective completion of work orders.
  • Carry out special maintenance assignments as requested by leadership, adapting to changing priorities and operational needs.
  • Train in instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical areas to become fully proficient in troubleshooting problems and performing repair work on a wide range of equipment.
  • Perform necessary cleaning and maintain good housekeeping practices to keep work areas safe, organized, and efficient.
  • Use the SAP maintenance management program to write notifications, create work orders, locate stock materials, and review equipment history for informed decision‑making.
  • Operate company mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and JLG machines, in a safe and compliant manner to support maintenance tasks.
  • Replace electric motors, ensuring proper wiring, alignment, protection devices, and rotation are correctly set and verified.
  • Perform instrumentation tasks such as changing out field controllers, probes, automatic valves, and operators to maintain accurate and reliable process control.
  • Conduct instrument calibrations for field instruments including, but not limited to, flow meters, temperature probes, pH meters, density meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other field devices.
  • Perform welding and fabrication functions as needed to repair or modify equipment and structures.
  • Operate lathes and milling machines to fabricate or repair mechanical components as required.
  • Perform proper assembly and rigging functions necessary to safely complete equipment repairs and installations.
  • Carry out alignment and balancing functions to ensure equipment operates smoothly and within specification.
  • Use specialty hand and shop tools such as volt and amp meters, meggers, DC voltage equipment, hot sticks, static trip test sets, ground fault testers, drills, grinders, cut‑off saws, and wrenches to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Understand and comply with all plant rules and safety requirements, including applicable standards such as SO and FSSC, to maintain regulatory and internal compliance.
  • Prioritize and organize work effectively to make efficient use of resources, determining appropriate parts, tools, equipment, and manpower for each assignment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections, safety inspections, and audits as assigned, and provide timely and accurate documentation of findings.
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems and diagnose low, medium, and high voltage electrical problems, identifying and implementing appropriate repairs.
  • Read and understand ladder diagrams and general control circuit systems to support troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Review and verify maintenance documentation for accuracy and completeness as required.
  • Communicate the status of daily assignments to maintenance supervisors, maintenance planners, operations leads, engineers, value stream leaders, and maintenance leadership as needed.
  • Respond to plant call‑ins to troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical, or mechanical problems, and make appropriate assessments when additional assistance is required to complete repairs.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the production schedule and maintenance needs.
