Location of PositionAnnapolis, Maryland
Position DutiesWe are seeking a qualified 508 Document Remediation Specialist within our Knowledge Management Team. This person is well‑versed in WCAG 2.1 AA document compliance, Adobe InDesign, and the MS Office suite. The candidate will remediate documents intended for website posting, analyze, test, and perform Section 508 compliance audits. The candidate will collaborate with project managers, internal stakeholders, team members and management to achieve DOJ ADA compliance directives for documents, while maintaining knowledge of emerging interpretations and trends and applying them.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high‑school equivalency certificate. - Experience:
Six years of administrative staff or professional work. - Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher‑ranking commissioned officer on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
- For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course‑by‑course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalence evaluating members identified at http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert in remediation of PDFs with Adobe with at least five years of experience as a 508 Document Remediation Specialist.
- Immersive knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
- Expertise in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Adobe InDesign expert.
- Proficiency in using Adobe, NVDA, Site Improve, and related tools for compliance testing and remediation.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
