Client Assistance Specialist, Grade 20

Job Summary

Office of the Directors’ Latino Health Initiative (LDI) is recruiting an enthusiastic and talented individual for the position of Client Assistance Specialist in Montgomery County, MD. The candidate will provide individualized coaching to help clients develop and carry out service plans that outline realistic academic, licensure, certification, and career goals, and support their successful entry or re‑entry into Maryland’s health workforce.

• Help clients navigate the health field licensure and/or certification process in Maryland, and make referrals to internal and external services, including access to financial aid services where appropriate.
• Work with the Workforce Development Coordinator to assist clients in exploring employment opportunities in healthcare settings, including on‑the‑job training, stepping‑stone positions, career advancement, and mentoring opportunities.
• Create and maintain case notes and keep records of individual service plan progress.
• Coordinate and plan the implementation of activities related to participants’ advancement in academic matters (including ESL), licensure or certification, and workforce matters.
• Support data collection, monitoring, tracking, and evaluation activities, providing pertinent client data on progress made and outcomes achieved to create program and other required reports.
• Support workforce development, data collection, and evaluation at the Center and other duties to support the Latino Health Initiative as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English and Spanish.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

Experience
:
One year of experience in human services involving substantive client contact and service delivery through direct assistance or referral. Experience must include the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of cultures and overcome potential service barriers.

Preferred Experience and Skills (listed in order of relevance):

• Experience assisting clients with workforce development, academic counseling, or development/implementation of individualized service plans.
• Experience serving as a liaison or advocate with governmental, nonprofit, or private agencies.
• Experience providing services to multicultural or multilingual clients.
• Experience preparing case notes, tracking client progress, and supporting data collection or reporting.
• Experience assisting internationally educated professionals with U.S. academic, licensure, or certification pathways.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish in a professional setting.

Substitutions
:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Schedule
:
Flexibility required. Program activities, client appointments, community events, and outreach sessions may occasionally occur during evenings or weekends.

Telework
:
Position may be eligible for limited hybrid telework, up to two days per week, after the initial training period and in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs.

:
