Position: FY27: Speech Pathologist, Burnt Mills, 0.7 FTE

Overview

The primary responsibilities include screening, evaluating, and providing appropriate services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) that affect educational performance. Also included in the responsibilities are consultation with teachers and parents and participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings.

  • Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Job Specific Information
  • Position will work with students in the home‑school model program at Burnt Mills Elementary School.
  • Schedule is flexible based on the candidate’s availability.
  • Wage range: 70% of $64,591 to $131,472 based on education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders of students from birth to twenty‑one years of age.
  • Develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student.
  • Select and utilize therapeutic materials effectively with individuals and small groups.
  • Implement consultative programs through classroom teachers and parents, working cooperatively with the local school or site‑based team.
  • Formulate concise clinical reports, develop IEPs and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and maintain complete longitudinal records for each student.
Qualifications
  • Masters or equivalency in speech‑language pathology, with coursework and demonstrated expertise in evaluation and therapeutic techniques.
  • Experience working cooperatively with professionals in related disciplines and with parents (e.g., parent counseling, parent training).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong human relations skills.
  • Hold a Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) license or be eligible for a provisional license. (Other licensing options for those hired before October 1, 2007.)
  • American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) desirable or CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) eligible.
