AboutThe Role Cloud Software Engineer

Annapolis Junction, MD
Peraton is looking for a talented Cloud Software Engineer to join our mission‑driven Cyber Missions team. In this role, you'll work on impactful, real‑world challenges—designing and delivering cloud solutions that prioritize performance, resilience, and cost efficiency in high‑stakes environments. As a Cloud Software Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects across the full software lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, integration, testing, and ongoing enhancement.
You'll work with a high degree of independence while collaborating closely with a skilled technical team, and you'll have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior engineers as they grow.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑based software solutions from concept to deployment
- Analyze requirements and translate them into scalable, secure designs
- Balance cost, capability, availability, and resilience in cloud architectures
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues
- Review and generate technical designs to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Help plan projects by defining tasks, timelines, and technical approaches
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Work on meaningful cyber missions with real national impact
- Be trusted to operate at a high level of autonomy and technical influence
- Collaborate with experienced engineers in a supportive, growth‑oriented environment
- Tackle challenging problems using modern cloud technologies
Required Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field - Experience:
8+ years hands‑on software engineering across the full development lifecycle; 6+ years in high‑level languages such as Java, C, or C++; 5+ years on UNIX/Linux; 3+ years in software integration and testing; strong technical writing skills - Certifications (required): AWS Certified Developer – Associate; AWS Dev Ops Engineer – Professional;
Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD);
Elastic Certified Engineer - Security Requirement:
Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph
Target Salary Range: $176,000 – $282,000.
