DescriptionApplications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Research ProjectSelected participants will join research projects focused on the development of methods and tools to evaluate computational pathology (CPATH) devices. Fellows will learn about assessing artificial intelligence models applied to whole slide images, including the CPATH imaging AI pipeline and cutting‑edge technologies such as vision and language foundation models for segmentation, classification, quantification, and conversational AI tasks.
Learning Objectives- Develop comprehensive expertise in evaluating AI algorithms applied to whole slide images, including performance metrics and validation framework.
- Gain proficiency in imaging AI pipeline development and optimization.
- Acquire hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and optimizing computational pathology workflows from image acquisition through analysis output, including preprocessing techniques.
- Learn about cutting‑edge vision and language foundation models for pathology applications.

Appointment LengthInitially one year, may be renewed upon FDA recommendation and contingent on availability of funds.

Participant StipendMonthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience.
Citizenship RequirementsOpen to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and foreign nationals meeting FDA immigration eligibility guidelines.
QualificationsCandidate should have received a master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science) within the past five years, with preferred research experience in AI and digital pathology whole slide image analysis.

Eligibility Requirements- Master’s or doctoral degree received within the last 60 months.
- Disciplines in:
Computer science, data science, bioinformatics, quantitative biology, or related fields; life health and medical sciences; mathematics and statistics; physics. - U.S. citizen or residency in the U.S. for at least 36 months in the last 60 months.
