Shuttle Bus Driver

Full‑time position – 40 hours per week.

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:20 am – 4:20 pm.

The Leisure World Community located in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a full‑time shuttle bus driver to operate a passenger shuttle bus on scheduled runs within the Leisure World of Maryland community and to area shopping centers.

• Performs pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection of assigned vehicle.
• Picks up, transports, assists, and discharges passengers at designated stops within the community and area shopping centers; regulates heating and ventilation for passenger comfort.
• Operates the vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions to prevent any motor vehicle‑related accident; adheres to all traffic laws.
• Ensures all passengers are seated prior to moving the bus.
• Reports all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to the Director of Security or designee immediately and submits written reports as required.
• Reports damages, defects, or malfunctions to the Director of Vehicle Maintenance.
• In the event of an accident, contacts the Special Police Officer on duty immediately; records all passengers’ names and phone numbers and indicates if anyone is injured.
• Timely and accurately completes all reports, including daily bus defect cards, passenger logs, and mileage logs.
• Arrives, signs in on time, and works hours as scheduled.
• Adheres to all routes and schedules.
• Monitors security radio at all times.
• Adheres to ADA regulations; operates wheelchair lift with proper safety restraints as requested.
• Interacts with passengers in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner.
• Must be able to lift 10–25 lbs.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of related bus‑driving experience.
• Ability to apply proper driving techniques and procedures.
• Ability to listen to and understand information in English.
• Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas orally so others will understand.
• Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form.
• Ability to provide information to supervisors and co‑workers by telephone, written form, e‑mail, or in‑person.
• Ability to identify and respond to customer needs courteously.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to lift 10–25 lbs.
