The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing the fleet and equipment under the West Sound Base Operating Services Contract (WSBOSC). This includes industrial machinery, passenger and heavy industrial vehicles, high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWVs), Lenco Bearcat armored vehicles, fire and emergency services vehicles, cranes, weight‑handling equipment, and material handling equipment. Duties involve fleet maintenance, scheduling, compliance with safety protocols, and ensuring contract requirements are met to keep vehicles mission ready.
TypicalDuties
- Develop and oversee comprehensive preventative maintenance programs, schedule routine servicing, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan using technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
- Understand priorities for each equipment type set forth in the contract and prioritize resources to ensure compliance.
- Analyze fleet performance data, report status to upper management, and recommend improvements.
- Conduct recurring meetings with customers to report fleet status and communicate repairs outside specified time frames and contract liabilities.
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in transportation/fleet management.
- Experience in fleet management, logistics, or vehicle maintenance.
- Leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team effectively.
- A combination of previous experience and education will be considered.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking, standing or sitting for several hours, climbing in/out of a vehicle, and rising and descending stairs.
- Must persevere under pressure for extended periods.
- A valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL‑ driver’s license or an acceptable alternative such as a U.S. passport or military .
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access; background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
