American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 1 year of ER experience in a larger trauma setting and active TNCC certification.
Requirements- Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, no pending): ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
- Minimum 1 year of ER experience in a larger trauma setting required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- A driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Large acute care Emergency Department with 56 standard beds, expandable to 60–70+ with hall beds
- Separate fast track area (6 beds), dedicated triage area (5 beds), and 18-bed inpatient holding area within the ED
- Dedicated locked psychiatric hall with 6 private treatment rooms
- Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health presentations
- Department sees approximately 170–200 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, or 1:4 for low‑acuity patients
- Charting in Epic EMR
- Telemetry monitoring available with dedicated monitor techs on unit
- ED techs perform EKGs; respiratory therapists manage ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and ABGs
- Blood draws performed primarily by nurses or ED techs; lab assists with difficult draws
- Radiology (X‑ray and CT) located adjacent to the ED with transport support available
- 12‑hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Must work assigned holidays in November and December; manager may consider accommodating 1 of 3 holidays depending on unit demands
- No floating required
- No on‑call or standby requirement; extra shifts are available but not mandatory
- Travelers may be considered for triage assignments after completing a triage competency test, though triage is generally staffed by department employees
- Inpatient RNs may float to the ED to assist with inpatient hold assignments
- Support staff includes ED physicians, mid‑level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, ED techs, CNAs, and in‑house security
- Orientation consists of a day of compliance training (8–10 hours) followed by a department‑specific orientation day (12 hours)
- No RTO will be considered during the first full week of the assignment
- Couples submitted together cannot be accommodated on the same schedule or shifts
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full‑time, part‑time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity‑affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
- Any professional scrub colors are acceptable
- Qualified candidates will be contacted for a phone interview with the hiring manager
