American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med-Surg/Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma facility in Washington, requiring active WA or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of 1 year of acute care experience.
Requirements- Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in acute care required
- 2 years of experience preferred
- BSN not required
- A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Acute care hospital setting, Level I Trauma Center
- Med-Surg/Telemetry unit (North Tower
5) with 18 beds - Patient population includes medical-surgical overflow: CHF, DM, UTI, non-critical sepsis, HTN, COPD, isolation, end-of-life/palliative, awaiting placement, and post-op general surgery patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 RN to patient; CNA support at 1:9
- RNs are required to titrate drips, limited to Heparin and Cardizem (up to 10mg/hr)
- RNs are required to read telemetry strips;
Telemetry/Monitor Techs are present on the unit - CPAP and BiPAP in use;
High Flow oxygen is not used on this unit - Charting via Epic EMR
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Holiday coverage preferred; details to be discussed during the manager phone interview
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required as needed; travelers are first to float
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Charge RN provides unit leadership and oversight;
Nurse Aides are present on the unit - No specific scrub color required
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- The unit manager conducts a phone interview as part of the selection process
