Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality care that impacts patients' well-being and recovery. Each day you will provide individualized, comprehensive care, perform skilled procedures, and implement patient care plans. You will collaborate seamlessly with an interdisciplinary team, supporting a dynamic environment that focuses on optimal patient outcomes. Our emergency department is a Level III trauma center with 52 private treatment rooms, an open-floor model, and a helipad for critical patient transfers.

  • Adheres to the department’s and hospital’s policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards.
  • Administers, oversees and documents the administration of medications (topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Assesses patients to include physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental and spiritual needs; gathers data relevant for patient care; implements appropriate interventions; evaluates outcomes; plans care based on needs identified during initial and ongoing assessments; prepares patients for discharge and coordinates post-discharge needs.
  • Cultural sensitivity and competence:
    Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials and understands how cultural factors affect care.
  • Demonstrates competent professional practice and engages in opportunities for professional growth; demonstrates self accountability to meet deadlines for all mandatory requirements.
  • Documents care delivered and patient status utilizing the nursing process in accordance with FHS standards of care; ensures appropriateness, accuracy, timeliness and execution of physician orders.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, upon hire.
  • New graduate or RN without E.D. or Critical Care experience AND successful completion of the E.D. residency program.
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support – CPR, upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 60 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 12 months of hire.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, within 12 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course, within 12 months of hire.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing and one year of related work experience in an acute care setting, upon hire.
  • Previous E.D. experience current within the last 2 years.
  • Critical care experience current within the last 2 years.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse, upon hire.
