RequirementsRequirements
- Active RN license (pending license accepted at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of Mother Baby/Postpartum experience
- BLS certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- BSN not required
- Experience caring for postpartum mothers and newborns in an acute care setting
Unit & Patient Population
- 28-bed Mother Baby/Postpartum unit
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3–4 couplets
- Common patient population includes:
- Postpartum mothers and newborns
- Late preterm infants
- Infants receiving phototherapy
- Patients with preeclampsia
Skills & Responsibilities
- Provide postpartum care for mothers and newborns
- Monitor and manage magnesium and insulin drips
- Follow quality care bundles for:
- Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH)
- Hypertension
- Neonatal hypoglycemia
- Infant thermoregulation
- Pain and Duramorph documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe maternal and newborn
