Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well‑being and recovery. Our Emergency Department is the second largest in the state of Washington, offering 52 state-of-the-art private treatment rooms. The open‑floor model allows for greater visibility, patient safety, and supports our team nursing approach. Doctors, Nurses, ED Techs, and Social Workers collaborate to provide patients with the best in emergency care.

Critical patients can be transferred and received by helicopter with a helipad located on the hospital rooftop. We are certified by the Joint Commission as a Cardiac and Stroke Center and are designated as a Level III Trauma Center with 2 private bays for critical care. The front‑end process includes 6 Fast‑track and 5 triage rooms with assigned doctors and nurses to support rapid assessment and treatment.

Responsibilities

Every day, you will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans. You’ll collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to a dynamic environment focused on optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to the department’s and hospital’s policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards. Keeps abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.
  • Administers, oversees and documents the administration of medications (topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Assesses patient to include physical, psychosocial, cultural, behavioral/emotional, developmental and spiritual needs. Gathers data relevant for patient care. Implements appropriate patient interventions and evaluates outcomes. Plans care appropriately based on needs identified during initial and ongoing assessments. Provides holistic, comprehensive, and professional nursing care to patient within the scope of practice. Implements appropriate patient interventions and evaluates outcomes. Prepares patient for discharge and assists with coordinating post discharge needs.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Competence:
    Demonstrates proper use of available communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services. Patient Populations Served:
    Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served.
  • Demonstrates competent professional practice and engages in opportunities for professional growth. Demonstrates self accountability to meet stated deadlines for all mandatory requirements.
  • Documents care delivered and patient status utilizing the nursing process in accordance with FHS standards of care. Receives and assures appropriateness, accuracy, timeliness and execution of physician orders.
Requirements Required
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing upon hire
  • New graduate or RNs without E.D. or Critical Care experience AND successful completion of the E.D. residency program.
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support – CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 60 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 12 months
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, within 12 months
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course, within 12 months
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing and one year of related work experience in an acute care setting, upon hire
  • Previous E.D. experience current within the last 2 years
  • Critical care experience, current within the last 2 years
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire
  • Certified Emergency Nurse, upon hire

Pay Range

$47.88 - $91.88 /hour
