Job Description
OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY This classification requires the identification, evaluation, interpretation, and documentation of findings from Non‑Destructive Test (NDT) results for structures, assemblies, systems, components, materials, and parts in compliance with applicable specifications and drawings. Calibration and preventative maintenance of NDT support equipment are performed as required. Computer skills are necessary to perform work.
- Independently set up, maintain, and operate equipment and processes to conduct inspection operations using visual, magnetic particle, and/or dye penetrant testing.
- Determine inspection method and appropriate techniques based upon supporting documentation, drawings, and engineering information.
- Identify, interpret, and analyze results based on acceptance criteria.
- Record data using sketches, drawings, test procedures, blueprints, and other engineering information.
- Assist engineering and Level III Examiner in developing inspection procedures, specifications, and techniques for local needs and demands.
- Process and complete necessary disposition and documentation for acceptance or rejection of parts or materials.
- Maintain solutions to accepted standards and control drying oven settings, immersion times, drying times, and washing requirements.
- Perform inspections on rocket motors, small ordnance items, and miscellaneous hardware.
- May be required to become certified in and perform other inspection functions.
- Annotate processing documentation as necessary.
- For PAC Only:
Perform inspections for non‑Production partnership (P2) Operations; inspect for proper completion of documentation and review blueprints of altered support equipment.
- Level I requires documented formal training and OJT with certified Level II personnel when performing Level II inspections.
- Level II requires NAS
410 certifications or equivalent NDT test methods. - Progression requires recording the required minimum hours of on‑the‑job training with a Level II or III inspector.
- Thorough understanding of NDT inspection procedures and manufacturing processes for vehicle structures, assemblies, systems, components, materials, and parts.
- Knowledge of safety criteria, NDT theory, principles, technical analysis, and techniques.
- Ability to organize, report, and maintain required licenses and certifications.
- Successful completion of formal tests on nondestructive techniques, inspections, and analyses.
- Successful practical demonstration of efficiency and proficiency in Level II inspection functions.
- Skilled in computer use and ability to learn new applications.
- Ability to meet and maintain the requirements of the Personal Reliability Program (PRP).
- Pass pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and retain a DoD secret level security clearance (interim secret clearance required to start).
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification.
- PT and MT Level II NDT Inspector to Aerospace Standard NAS
410. - Setup and operation of various NDT equipment; inspection of parts and assemblies for defects using magnetic particle testing processes.
- Familiarity with inspection practices and procedures for operational test methods and functional test equipment relating to missiles and their components.
Secret clearance required; position requires a government security clearance.
Other Important Information- Onsite full‑time; work performed at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
- Schedule:
9x80, every other Friday off. - Base salary range in Washington: $44.72 – $57.20 per hour.
