Typical Responsibilities
  • Operate efficiently and economically within the Navy Exchange Uniform Center.
  • Maintain good customer and employee relations and provide courteous and efficient customer service.
  • Work independently within the framework of established policies and procedures, consulting with superiors regarding policy matters.
  • Advise customers on services, dress codes, authorized uniform combinations, seasonal wear requirements, and military rank structures, including male/female specificity, insignia, and furnishings.
Qualifications
  • Three years of responsible experience in non‑routine work, enabling a general understanding of systems, methods, and administrative machinery; strong analytical, judgment, and communication skills.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
  • One year of experience in retail merchandising (sales promotions, product display, inventory control, records management, customer relations), exempt or non‑exempt supervisory experience, and ensuring compliance with security, safety, and fire regulations.

Education & Experience Substitutions

One year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for up to three years of general experience, up to a maximum of a four‑year bachelor’s degree. One year of specialized retail merchandising experience can substitute for the required retail experience.
