GENERAL PURPOSEThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all Customers with‐time eye contact, smiles, and exceptional service; treats fellow Associates with respect; follows all company best practice standards; keeps the work area clean; and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment and keep egress clear.
- Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remain friendly and professional at all times.
- Assist Customers in any way necessary—register‑trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet, say thank you, and respond promptly to all interactions.
- Handle all customer service calls and issues in a courteous and helpful manner, calling leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain a clean store environment.
- Adhere to the Company’s dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency, merchandising items per guidelines and maintaining brand familiarity.
- Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential and cash information.
- Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies, properly process MOS merchandise, and notify leadership for approval of disposals.
- Follow all cash, check, card, and refund procedures; maintain accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by executing all store best practices and minimizing steps and touches.

- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds; for stockroom shifts, push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
