Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $25.26 - $25.26/hr

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to assist with upkeep and repair of facilities for WSBOSC. This entry-level role performs unskilled to semi‑skilled maintenance tasks across building, plumbing, electrical, structural, grounds, and equipment systems. Under guidance of skilled tradesmen and foremen, the GMW will gain hands‑on experience and develop skills toward becoming semi-skilled in building and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Apply touch-up paint, caulking, replace floor and ceiling tiles, electrical outlets, switch covers, and bulbs; repair/replace door hardware; clean roof drains and gutters.
  • Assist skilled workers with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or masonry work.
  • Maintain and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Communicate and interact directly with customers and supervisors, informing them of unexpected or additional repairs and determining needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
  • Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
  • Communicate with the scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
Qualifications
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-3 years in general maintenance or closely related field.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including high places.
  • Good manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance.
Physical Requirements

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case‑by‑case basis.

  • Lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking, standing or sitting for several hours at a time; climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Requirements
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
