Salary Range
$40-45 per hour plus OT as needed (typically 10% during the summer months).
Position Summary / ObjectiveThe Electrician position installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in both commercial and marine environments. It also ensures all work meets safety standards, building codes, and operational requirements.

- Inspect, maintain, and repair marine electrical systems including AC/DC circuits, switchboards, generators, motors, batteries, and control panels.
- Diagnose electrical faults using multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools; document findings and corrective actions.
- Install new electrical components such as wiring, breakers, and lighting systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vessel electrical systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, ABYC, NFPA 70 (NEC), and other relevant marine electrical standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair propulsion‑related electrical systems, including engine harnesses, alternators, starters, and control modules.
- Maintain and repair shore‑power systems, grounding systems, and bonding networks.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Document all work performed, including parts used, test results, and safety checks.
- Follow strict safety protocols for confined spaces, energized systems, and marine environments.
- Perform work as assigned by a supervisor in all weather conditions indoors and outdoors. Maintain a clean and organized shop. Lift and carry 50 plus pounds. Properly use PPE (eyewear, gloves, hearing protection, hardhat, clothing, safety toe shoes, personal floatation, fall protection harness/lanyards). Work well with others as a team and independently.
- Perform adequate custodial duties to maintain shop and facility cleanliness.
- Must be able to complete and maintain a DOT medical/physical exam as required to operate forklifts and cranes.
- Must be comfortable working in a marine environment on or near the water, on boats, barges and piers, and making up mooring lines and shore power connections.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 15 years of commercial experience or 8 years of military experience with transferable MOS/NEC/A school/C school/Aux package training/NNPS experience.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial experience or 5 years of military experience in either conventional or nuclear electrical fields.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Basic experience with Microsoft programs.
Education and Experience
- OSHA Safety Certificate.
- Electrical Technician Certification.
- Electrical Maintenance Technician Certificate.
- Certified Electronic Systems Technician.
- State or local electrician license (Journeyman or Master).
- Experience with vessel shore power.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
