- Bangor is in need of a Maintenance Mechanic to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community and operational successes on a day to day basis. You will perform a variety of tasks which involve the upkeep and repair of both NGIS properties. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our Military patrons and their families.

So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?
  • Assists in performing work in at least three of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures:
    Plumbing, washer/dryer repair, HVAC, electrical, carpentry and painting
  • Maintains work order log and follow up as required.
  • Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude, demonstrate effective communication skills, professionally interact with guests, answering guest questions concerning hotel facilities and provide information about local attractions
  • Follows all local safety regulations. Informs supervisor of hazardous conditions.
The Qualifiers
  • One year of experience with general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings grounds fixtures equipment etc.
  • Three years of general maintenance work in involving variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting etc.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of general maintenance practices involving the upkeep of buildings grounds fixtures equipment etc.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Three years of general maintenance work in involving variety of trade practices associated with such occupations as air conditioning and refrigeration electrical work plumbing carpentry masonry and painting etc. Including knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures tools mechanical and electrified equipment chemicals and basic safe work practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing stooping bending kneeling climbing and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 50 pounds. A recognized professional certification or license in one trade plumbing HVAC electrical carpentry or painting trade is preferred.
