Job Description

Tessera is seeking a knowledgable Fire Alarm Mechanic Technician ll. The Fire Alarm System Mechanic II is NICET certified at Level II in Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems and has the knowledge, experience, and basic skills needed to work in the industry. Working under limited supervision, they inspect, test, and maintain complex water-based systems, including AFFF deluge systems.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Test and inspect building water-based fire protection systems.
  • Test fire-related backflow assemblies.
  • Work towards qualifying as a WA state backflow specialty plumber (PL30).
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on fire protection systems to include: AFFF Deluge, Low-Expansion Foam, Pre-Action, Dry, Water Mist and Water Spray, Pressure-Reducing Valves, and fixtures.
  • Assist in the adjustment, repair, or replacement of leaky joints, pipes, valves, and other equipment and components to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related fire protection systems.
  • Additionally, adjust, repair or replace support systems like compressors, nitrogen generators, and vacuum air systems, valves, and other associated systems, equipment, and components.
  • Obstruction and impairment investigation and repair.
  • Operate, test, and repair both electric and engine-driven fire pumps.
  • Apply all NFPA and UFC code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
  • Operate support equipment like:
    Self-Propelled Boom Lifts
  • Ensure all requirements are met as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance were properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining preventive maintenance and repair records.
  • Read and understand drawings, work plans, and maps.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain NICET II certification required.
  • Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certification required within 1 year.
  • Backflow specialty plumber (PL30) preferred.
