We are seeking an accomplished Senior Accountant with experience in public company accounting and a strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape in the defense and aerospace sector. The Senior Accountant will ensure accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of internal controls, and compliance with government accounting requirements (e.g., FAR/DFARS). In this individual contributor role, responsibilities include general ledger accounting, payroll accounting, SOX compliance, supporting SEC reporting and government accounting compliance, and driving process improvements in a fast paced, highly regulated environment.

This role requires solid technical accounting knowledge and excellent organizational skills.

• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Support payroll accounting, including journal entries and related reconciliations
• Support preparation of monthly financial packages and reviews for accuracy
• Actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process
• Support internal and external auditors' requests and inquiries
• Perform ad hoc analysis as needed using various reports and statements
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to resolve discrepancies in account balances
• Ensure compliance with SOX and Internal Controls over relevant processes
• Participate in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of experience and education
• 5 - 10 years of related accounting/finance work experience
• Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP system and strong Excel skills
• Experience supporting government contracting and knowledge of FAR/CAS is a plus

• Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with public accounting experience is preferred
• Broad expertise or unique knowledge contributing to company objectives and principles
• Ability to analyze situations requiring evaluation of intangibles; exercises judgment in selecting methods and criteria
• Ability to work independently on new or special assignments
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with small teams
• Strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
• Ownership and accountability for current and past work products

No Clearance

The salary range for this role is: $88,000 - $124,740

Aero Vironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to location, role and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, and key skills.

This position requires ITAR/EAR compliance. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR or be eligible for an export license. A U.S. person includes U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, or protected individual. Some positions may require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
