SHIPPING AND RECEIVING SUPERVISOR
Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor manages the shipping and receiving team and coordinates activities to ensure an effective and efficient flow of shipping and receiving operations in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Plans and manages manpower and the physical consolidation floor to support shift activity regarding shipping and receiving of products
- Manages the packaging supplies inventory and coordinates with other areas to ensure adequate stock levels
- Interfaces with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate receipt or shipment of products, and resolves receipt discrepancies
- Fosters the professional growth and development of team members through example, counseling, and training
- Compiles charts, graphs and other data for the shipping and receiving function for management review
- Ensures general safety and compliance with relevant regulations and company requirements
- Leads and directs work for the team as defined by business needs
- Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to reach business goals
- Manages daily scheduling and prioritization of inbound and outbound shipments
- Steps up when needed to meet business needs
- Maintains high shipping accuracy through pick/pack verification, barcode scanning, and final audit procedures
- Manages carrier bookings, freight mode selection, and expedite approvals in accordance with policy to control freight spend
- Manages claims, returns, and damage investigations with carriers and suppliers, coordinating with Quality and Customer Service for resolution
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, packing optimization) to improve throughput, reduce costs, and lower error rates
- Exhibits independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May require nights, weekends, variable schedules and additional hours as necessary
- Experience in SAP with inventory and shipping transactions highly desired
- Strong knowledge of shipping processes: carrier types (parcel, LTL, TL), freight cost control, and documentation. Dangerous goods experience preferred
- Ability to document and manage standard work processes and instructions
- Excellent communication, organization and team-building skills
- Ability to follow instructions and apply processes and procedures to complex tasks
- Exercises good judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
- Able to read standard measuring devices
- Proficient computer skills and strong attention to detail
- Experience in regulated industries (aerospace) with DFARS, ITAR, or similar compliance awareness preferred
- Experience with carrier scorecards and parcel optimization tools preferred
- Education:
bachelor’s degree is preferred - Years of experience: minimum 5 years of experience in shipping and receiving roles
- 3+ years of people management experience
- Aerospace or light industrial manufacturing experience is highly desired
Competitive Compensation
- Pay Range: $100,300 to $166,900 annually
- Participation in Annual Incentive Program
